Welcome to
Stylist
Earlier this year, The Apprentice’s
runner-up Kate Walsh said women
displayed “too much emotion” and
that she preferred working with
men. This stuck with me, grating
away, and I’ve since heard other
women say similar things – even
to me in job
interviews (odd,
seeing as you
don’t have to be
that observant
to notice that
I am, indeed,
also a woman).
Work isn’t
the only place
woman bashing
occurs; female
newspaper columnists are always
referring to their own sex being
bitchy, power-crazed or unattractive.
Am I missing something? For
a decade I’ve worked in female
environments and the offices
have been creative, supportive,
inspiring and successful. So Stylist
decided to investigate the rise
in female misogyny (p36) and to
passionately promote the need
to start backing our own gender.
Now who said emotion was
a bad thing?
