A details have emerged
as summer’s chicest
micro-trend. British brand Burberry
Prorsum led the way with twistedknot
details while Chanel and
Givenchy showed pieces that had
intricate pleats or origami-style folds.
But unlike the Grecian-inspired
glamour of recent seasons, be aware
that this season’s take on drapery
is sculptural and sleek.
Draped detail is also one of the
most flattering trends of the season.
If you’re careful, an artfully placed
fashion fold can cleverly concoct
curves when there are none. Create
the illusion of soft curves with a
draped neckline or fake an hour-glass
figure with ruching around your waist.
However divine, draped details
demand you keep the rest of your
outfit simple so pick fuss-free
accessories. Bold shoes and clutch
bag are the ideal accompaniment for
these pieces. Choose your jewellery
sparingly, too: a wide cuff or a
statement ring is all that’s required.
