I understand the temptation
to leave your make-up on
and after long hours at work
it’s easy to fall into bed and
become sloppy in your cleansing regime.
The only real harm that comes from failing
to cleanse properly is that pores can
become clogged with a build-up of
make-up and debris on the skin’s
surface, leading to a breakout of
blackheads and spots.
Wrinkles are not necessarily
exacerbated by leaving make-up on
overnight, especially with intelligent
products that are infused with antiageing
ingredients, but your skin does
regenerate the most at night so it’s
good to prime it into a responsive state,
allowing your products to get
right into the deeper dermal layers.
Tracey Malone (sister of Jo) who
uses the legendary facial techniques
of Madame Lubatti (once facialist
to Forties Hollywood stars like Vivien
Leigh) says, “Cleansing is key to clearing
the pores. Dirty skin will leave you looking
haggard as you won’t have that peachy sheen to
your complexion. If that doesn’t get you cleansing,
remember that blocked pores will stop those anti-ageing

I work as an events co-ordinator, so late nights are a regular
thing for me. Fitting in a proper beauty routine is really
challenging. Does it matter if you don’t take every single
bit of make-up off before you go to bed? Is it true that
if I don’t I’ll gget more wrinkles and spots? p Please say y no!

CREAM CLEANSER, £27
Beauty discovery: cheekbone tubes
At a recent launch at Guerlain HQ I was offered a nifty pen-like contraption to
try; the new Success Future Sculpting Roll-On Mask, £52 (available 27 Feb). It
uses a cold applicator with amber extract to tighten the fibres in the skin giving
it an instant lift. More importantly, all the puffiness from a bad night’s sleep
was smoothed out, giving my cheekbones a fab sculpted look. A must-have.
