designs for Stylist
There are some things in life that are guaranteed to make
us excited every February – planning our spring look, the
first Cadbury Creme Egg of the year and Brits fever.
Top of the list, however, is London Fashion Week,
which kicks off next week from 19-24 February. So to
celebrate all that is great and good about fashion, three
incredible designers have turned their hands to magazine
design to create covers exclusively for Stylist.
HEALTH
Bubbly is good for you
New research has revealed
that a glass of champagne is the
healthy way to ease your liver
back off the wagon following
a January detox.
In a recent study, scientists
found that not only is a glass
of bubbly less calorific than its
non-fizzy counterpart – 85
calories compared to over 100
in a small glass of wine – it’s
also packed with blood vessel-
widening plant extract and
the same antioxidants found
in a glass of red.
“We have discovered that
a couple of glasses [of champagne]
a day has a beneficial effect on
the walls of blood vessels, which
suggests [it] has the potential to
reduce strokes and heart disease,”
says Dr Jeremy Spencer of Reading
University. Who are we to argue
with the experts…?
The Stylist Fashion Issue hits the streets on
Wednesday, 17 February and will feature covers by
Vivienne Westwood, Giles Deacon and Manolo Blahnik.
The collectable covers will front the bumper-size issue,
which also contains a round-up of s/s 2010’s fashion
and beauty trends, as well as the latest catwalk news.
So make sure you don’t miss next week’s issue,
and grab yourself a slice of fashion history.

The new scent from DKNY
takes small steps to help make
a big difference
A drop of vanilla in water is
at the heart of DKNY’s new
scent, pureDKNY. This signature
ingredient is sourced from
vanilla bean farmers in Uganda,
Africa. DKNY in partnership
with CARE International UK,
a leading humanitarian
organisation, is helping to fight
global poverty by empowering
women through programmes
like the one in Uganda.
DKNY is supporting
a 15-month project that will
reach 900 vanilla farmers
(60% of whom are women) in
rural communities in Uganda.
By establishing Village Savings
and Loan Associations, CARE will
offer farming families in Uganda
greater access to credit and
savings which will be re-invested
in food, schools and healthcare.
The CARE Adventure Race
is a one-day charity race on foot
and bike around Swinley Forest in
Bracknell. It’s on 27 March giving
