Vampires are red hot this year – think
Twilight and True Blood. Make-up
artist Charlotte Tilbury says: “Vamp
lips should give plenty of attitude as
well as elegance, as it’s an incredible
look that’s pure punk couture.”
Deep purple, burgundy and plum
shades form cabernet-bitten lips
which are big for winter. Tilbury
suggests dabbing the lips with the
colour on your finger, then a tissue,
then repeating for depth of colour
without drying out.
Lip tip To add glamour, top with a
deep shade of gloss. Try Myface Lip

X During the Second World War, women who worked in
munitions factories or were engaged in other war work
were provided with lipstick to keep spirits high. It was
referred to as the “red badge of courage”. In contrast, in
Nazi Germany, women were banned from wearing lipstick
so that their “superior” Aryan features were accentuated.
X The most expensive lipstick ever made was Guerlain’s

Lip Pencil in Hazel to invisibly define
the mouth, before patting on the lip
colour. This will allow the natural
hues to show through. Match with
dramatic eye make-up to avoid
looking too un-made.

catwalks, with glossy, pop art
make-up colours (think Debbie Harry
and Madonna in Who’s That Girl?)
making an appearance.
This look is about being brave.
Make-up artist Alex Box says:

shade you’re most afraid of and
take the plunge.”
