Feminine
couture
for hair
Hollywood hair is getting girly – just
look at Scarlett Johansson and Eva
Mendes, recently spotted on the red
carpet wearing Alice bands. This
season’s catwalks were bursting with
baubles, pins and ribbons too. Yves
Saint Laurent worked a tough-girl
look with leather straps fastening
a sky-high up-do, while D&G went
luxe with white and gold baubles.
Tatty Devine’s green parcel-bow has
a touch of geek-chic and Miu Miu’s
red jewelled hair band would have
made Lewis Carroll proud. Ornate
pieces are best for big nights out
with hair worn loose, but for those
wanting an easier take on the trend,
kirby grips are the must-have.
Just twist small strands of hair and
pin back to get an ingénue-inspired
look. We
love D&G’s
butterfly grip.

PUMPKIN AND
APPLE PEDICURE
Ah, my tired feet. But that’s
what you get for donning
sky-scraper Burberry
platforms after a latesummer
break spent
barefoot in
the Med. My
feet had
gone into
shock! A
trip to the
Brown’s
Hotel Spa
was in order.
THE BROWN’S HOTEL SPA,
WHERE FEET GET THE
FIVE-STAR TREATMENT
On arrival, an apple
martini was pressed into
my hand while my feet
were exfoliated with
crushed pumpkin seeds
and aromatic oils, before
being plunged into vanilla
water and massaged with
a nourishing cream. Next
came a pumpkin and
paraffin-wax foot wrap
which was so toasty and
hydrating my feet were
back to tip-top softness
in no time. The finishing
touch? A slick of Essie’s
Sexy Divide varnish.
