The iPhone
upgrade: new 4G
launches at last
Drum roll, please, because on
24 June, Apple’s soon-to-be
coveted iPhone 4G will be
available in stores. The model
promises to improve on its
predecessor, the iPhone 3GS,
which has come under fire for
its fragility and short battery
life. Here are the reasons we’re
getting excited by the launch:
Improved design At 9.3mm
thin, the 4G is the sleekest
smartphone in history. It’s also
the most robust, with panels of
glass and stainless steel.
FaceTime video calling
Callers with Wi-Fi access can
see who they’re speaking to.
Multitasking The new version
allows you to run more than one
app, switching between them
while preserving battery life.
5-megapixel camera The new
camera has a flash and HD
video-recording facility.
Enhanced display The 3.5in
screen has four times as many
pixels as the iPhone 3GS and
78% of the pixels on an iPad.
1,500 more apps Including
iBooks: great for the commute.
Extra microphone (We can’t
figure out a need for that one!)
From £499; apple.com/uk; the
iPhone 4G is available on Vodafone,
Orange, o2, T-Mobile and 3 Mobile
