Every year I say I’m detoxing and every
year I fail after a few days of utter misery.
How can I make sure that 2010 is the year
I succeed?
Linda, 32, east London
Predictably, this is the time of year
when everyone is asking me about
detoxing – nobody’s drinking or
eating carbs – basically cutting
out anything that tastes remotely delicious.
Abstinence is tricky, especially when there’s
no end in sight. However, a quick, short burst
of detoxing with some genius products is
much easier to stick to.
LA’s most sought-after trainer, David
Kirsch – the powerhouse behind Heidi Klum
and Anne Hathaway’s long limbs and sculpted
figures – has launched his Five-Day Detox box
(£75, spacenk.com), five shots and capsules
that uses resveratrol (the antioxidant element
of red wine without the boozy after effects)
which is to be taken with just two light meals
a day to completely re-energize
and detoxify the battered
post-New Year organs.
If even this seems too much
to bear, try the ingenious Indian
Bed Of Nails – the Shakti mat
(£63, victoriahealth.com) that
uses methods from acupuncture, with sharp spikes
that stimulate the skin, increase blood flow and ease issues
like insomnia, muscle aches, lethargy and can even help to
kick a hangover where it hurts. This is an ancient Indian
tradition which helps to bring the body back into perfect

balance. Lying on the mat will release endorphins and
the feel-good hormone oxytocin. What more can you ask

back on track feeling
energised and detoxed
to the core! Magic.
Some products are almost too gorgeous to use – I have a collection
of palettes that wouldn’t look out of place on a mantelpiece. This luxurious
highlighter palette has an iconic Chanel logo embossed in the powder
and gives your cheeks an instant glow. This is the collector’s item for
the season so get it now even if you can’t bear to use it.

skin was exfoliated with
a goat-hair mitten (you
