If you’re in need of a culture fix then
visit the new Van Gogh exhibition
at the Royal Academy Of Arts. It’s
offering an exclusive insight into the
complex mind of the tortured genius
by displaying rarely seen letters
penned by the artist.
The correspondence
– written in Dutch – is
predominantly to his
brother Theo, an art
dealer. The letters,
sent from July 1875
onwards demonstrate
Van Gogh’s deep
understanding of

The Van Gogh Museum in
Amsterdam provided the letters,
while with other major lenders, such
as the National Portrait Gallery in
London donated paintings. The
exhibition opens
on 23 Jan and is the first
time all Van Gogh’s seminal
works and letters have been
displayed together.
